Dr. Schmitt studied chemistry at the Justus-Liebig-Universit\u00e4t of Giessen. He graduated with a Diploma in chemistry with a focus on synthetic organic chemistry and completed his doctoral thesis in 2001 at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz and at the University of Potsdam (synthesis of polyparaphenylenes).<\/p>

After obtaining his Doctorate, Dr. Schmitt began working in intellectual property law at a Munich law and patent law firm before joining our patent law firm in 2023.<\/p>

His areas of expertise include drafting patent applications, prosecution of patent applications, opposition proceedings and appeal proceedings, in particular in the field of inorganic chemistry, industrial chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis.<\/p>
